WACO - Baylor University students felt an explosion at a fertilizer plant 20 miles north of their campus. Some students said they heard the blast, while others saw the flash.
CHANNEL 5 NEWS spoke with one student who felt the explosion.
Wednesday was supposed to be a day of celebration at the Baylor campus. It was the Day of the Bear in honor of the school mascot.
"I got about four or five phone calls, and messages, just wanting to make sure I was OK," April Ortiz said. The Baylor senior is from Brownsville.
Ortiz spent the university holiday trying to find a blood bank for victims of the explosion.
"I tried donating blood, but they were already at capacity," she said.
