MISSION - Firefighters on Monday extinguished a blaze at a building in downtown Mission.

The fire happened before 8 p.m. at the intersection of 9th and St. Marie streets. Police blocked off traffic on Business Highway 83.

The business where the fire happened was closed. No injuries were reported.

"It looks very destructive, especially on suite B. It looks more damaged on that one that I can see from over here, that's what they're working on," building owner Emigdio Villanueva said.

"Apparently the ceiling has already come out and everything is gone, so I don't know what's going to happen," Villanueva said.

Villanueva said he does not have insurance on the building.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
