ALAMO - The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office identified the body of a woman, which was found in a canal yesterday. We're told she was 85-year-old Gertrude Jasper Tucker from Bibleville, which is near Alamo.
Her body was found in north Alamo, between Earling and Minnesota Roads, when deputies were investigating a car fire. An autopsy suggests Tucker may have drowned, but toxicology reports are still pending. According to the sheriff's office, neighbors and friends said Tucker was acting disoriented in the days prior to her death.
It's still unclear what caused the vehicle to catch fire. Authorities said the investigation continues.
