BROWNSVILLE - A Brownsville second grader is recovering, after a car hit him in a school parking lot.

It happened at Paredes Elementary School this morning. Brownsville ISD officials told us the 7-year-old was walking to the entrance of the campus, when he was hit.

The boy had scratches and bruises. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Investigators report the child's mother dropped him off shortly before school started. They suspect he ran out in front of a car in the parking lot.

BISD school police officers are investigating. So far, no one has been issued a citation.
