BROWNSVILLE – Residents working with the homeless say an upcoming census will be instrumental in obtaining resources for them.

The count is not a federal census; the information will be going to the state.

It will be an opportunity for volunteers to identify the needs of people on the street.

Organizers and volunteers will start their count on Jan. 24.
