BROWNSVILLE - The Brownsville Police Department will soon have 10 more new police cruisers on the road to patrol the streets, making it safer for the officers.
The patrol cars are Chevy Caprices and cost about $42,000 each. The cars were paid with funds from the drug forfeiture fund.
Inside the unit, there is new, state-of-the-art technology for the officers, so they can communicate and work on their laptops equipped in the car. The vehicles also have more room inside for those arrested and the officers in the car. The safety bar between the officers and those in custody is built more secure.
Brownsville police hope to get these new police out on the road in the next week or so.
