CAMERON COUNTY - A state office in Harlingen on Tuesday was closed for a second day after thieves swiped the building's air-conditioning units, officials said.
Thieves took several air-conditioning units from the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services at 3625 Business Highway 83 in west Harlingen. The thefts happened over the Thanksgiving weekend, office workers told police.
Police said the thieves lifted a fence to reach the units in the rear of the building. The units are worth approximately $9,500, officials said.
Investigators said the units were not secured, so it was easy for the criminals to haul them away.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Harlingen Crime Stoppers at 956-425-8477.
