EDINBURG - Sometimes it's very hard to get baseball out of your blood. Tony Phillips won a World Series ring as part of the 1989 Oakland A's. He enjoyed an 18-year career in the major leagues and collected 2,023 hits. Now, at age 53, Phillips has been signed by the Edinburg Roadrunners of the North American Baseball League. This is not Phillips' first rodeo in the NABL. Last season, he played with former A's teammate Jose Canseco for the Yuma Scorpions and in 24 games batted .269. Roadrunners manager Vince Moore calls Phillips "a great addition for us." Phillips went 0-for-3 with a walk in his Friday debut against the Thunder in Edinburg.
