SAN BENITO - Angel Perez survived his battle against cancer, but lost his life to a knife blade Monday in San Benito.

Police are looking for three men in the case. They said the three attacked and stabbed Perez multiple times.

Perez was found the 19-year-old wounded at the corner of Winchell and Rockafeller streets. He was taken to Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen where he later died.

"He was a cancer survivor. He died two blocks down. He was running and he stopped running ... he didn't make it home," a relative said.

Police are trying to determine if Perez knew his attackers.

"We didn't know of him being in any gangs He had no police record. He was a good kid. I guess he was just at the wrong place at the wrong time," the relative said.

Police are looking for Esteban Rodriguez. He is considered a person of interest, officials said.

Anyone with information on this case or the suspects is asked to call San Benito police at 956-361-3880.
