Canyon beats McKinney North 49-42

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Madison Parker scored 18 points and Canyon made eight consecutive free throws in the final 59 seconds to beat McKinney North 49-42 to win the Class 4A state championship.

Canyon was 11 of 21 from the line before making 11 consecutive free throws over the final 3 minutes. Canyon won its eighth championship since 2000.

Caitlyn Cunyus added 12 points and a big defensive rebound in the final seconds as Parker made four free throws in the final 13 seconds to seal the victory.

Canyon (34-4) is 16-0 at the state tournament since 2000. Canyon's last defeat at the state tournament came in the 1999 championship game.

Mikaehla Connor scored 13 to lead McKinney North (29-5) which was playing in its first state tournament.
