SAN JUAN - Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley has teamed up with the USDA and the Texas Department of Agriculture to make sure Valley kids don't go hungry during the summer months.
Thousands of kids across the Valley will get healthy meals and snacks thanks to the Summer Food Service Program.
This is the second time the three groups have come together to feed kids. Last summer 42,000 children benefited from the program.
"Our families here in the Valley have very poor nutrition, so we are promoting the healthiest way of living and having good eating habits," says Sister Norma Pimentel.
Children between the ages of 2 and 18 qualify for the program.
