MISSION - A man from Guatemala was killed in a crash in Mission following a chase. Mission Police Chief Robert Dominguez told CHANNEL 5 NEWS four others were taken to the hospital.
The car crashed near the intersection of Inspiration and Business 83. Dominguez said an officer from the La Grulla Police Department tried to pull over the vehicle at about 9:50 p.m. Thursday. A chase then ensued on the expressway. The driver eventually exited the expressway and crashed in Mission.
"It's a one-vehicle accident. Obviously, they were going at a high rate of speed, couldn't make the turn and went off the roadway. They struck the railroad tracks and at that point, landed where you see the vehicle right now," said Dominguez.
Chief Domingez added the driver and passenger of the vehicle are brothers from the U.S. The other two injured people are believed to be from Guatemala.
The chief told us there is no indication the vehicle was stolen. The Guatemalan consulate will now be notified about the accident.
