BROWNSVILLE - A city of Brownsville employee is on administrative leave after he was involved in a shooting at a bar last week, officials said.

Investigators confirmed a health department worker was the man who shot two people early Thursday outside The Toucan Lounge.

The man told police he shot in self defense when a group was about to attack him outside the bar.

Both victims are recovering from the gunshot wounds, officials said. Police said the man is not a suspect and they will not release his name. They will decide if charges will be filed in the case.
