City of Weslaco to Run Its Own Animal Shelter

WESLACO - The city of Weslaco is taking on another task in an effort to save money. The city will now run its own animal shelter.
The facility is located inside the Public Works Department and set to open in about two weeks.
Last year, Weslaco spent more than $100,000 to send unwanted pets to the Palm Valley Animal Shelter. The city will save about half that running its own shelter.
