SARITA - A Mexican national is facing federal drug charges, after Border Patrol agents allegedly caught her transporting cocaine.

The woman was traveling on a bus and spotted during an inspection at the Sarita checkpoint on Christmas Eve. She told agents she was headed to Dallas for vacation and pointed to a blue gift bag she was taking for a friend.

Agents noticed she could not control herself from moving in her seat while talking to them and she had two necklaces of Santisima Muerte, a saint used by drug smugglers. The woman said she knew smugglers prayed to the saint, but she simply liked her.

A K-9 later alerted agents to the blue gift bag. Two vacuum-sealed bundles of cocaine, weighing less than a pound, were found in the bag.

When asked about the bag, the woman told agents, "You know what's inside my bag. Just arrest me."

Agents said later during questioning, the woman said, "I am glad you caught me. I've wanted to stop doing this for a while."
