NEAR DONNA - A family in Apache Circle, a colonia north of Donna, says their home has been broken into twice in the past two months. Their neighbors' homes have been hit as well.

The worst part is they say the thieves are doing it in broad daylight.

Augustine Ruiz says he had just left the home to go to McDonald's to take his sisters to eat. They were gone for about an hour and a half. When they came back, the door was broken in.

"It's the second time in the past two months that this happened, which is even scarier because you're not safe. People are watching. You get the feeling they're watching you leave, and they just come in right away," says Ruiz.

The thieves took two television sets, an xBox, a laptop and jewelry from the home.

The family has filed a police report with the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office both times. Ruiz says he's afraid there may be a third time.

"I'm hoping for them to get caught and pay the consequences for what they're doing. They're not working for the stuff they're getting. They're taking the easy way out," says Ruiz.

If you have any information on the crimes, you're asked to call the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office at 956-668-TIPS.
