MCALLEN - Part of Bentsen Road in McAllen will be closed, starting today. The closure's expected to continue until December 13. It's due to utility construction and paving, which is part of the road widening project.
The road will be closed starting at the intersection of Bentsen Road and 3 Mile Line (Buddy Owens Road). The closure ends about 450 feet north of that intersection.
The detour for southbound traffic on Bentsen Road will be from 4 Mile Line to Taylor Road to 3 Mile Line and then back onto Bentsen Road.
The detour for northbound traffic on Bentsen Road will be from 3 Mile Line to Ware Road to 4 Mile Line then back onto Bentsen Road. The city of McAllen has provided a detour map.
The entire road widening project is scheduled for completion in February. Bentsen Road is being widened to a five lane corridor from Pecan Avenue to 3 Mile Line (Buddy Owens).
