WESLACO - A Crimestoppers tip led to the arrest of a convicted felon in possession of a stolen handgun.
Investigators went to a home on the 3000 block of 22nd Street in Weslaco because of a tip. They say when the homeowner, Alejandro Rodriguez, opened the front door, several bags of marijuana could be seen in plain view.
Investigators found wrapped bundles of marijuana, three plastic baggies with cocaine, and 24 bags of what they suspected to be mushrooms. They also found a black Taurus semi-automatic handgun, which had been reported stolen.
Rodriguez is a convicted felon and still on probation.
He was arrested for drug possession and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Deputies also arrested Margarita Fuentes. She was charged with possession of controlled substance with intent to delivery.
