WILLACY COUNTY- County leaders have decided to let residents in Willacy County set off fireworks for the holiday.

The county is still under a burn ban. Officials say people will be ticketed for any unauthorized burning, but they won't face any fines for lighting fireworks up through January 1. This includes all fireworks, not just small sparklers.

The county says it got enough rain to allow firework celebrations but not enough to lift the burn ban. Cameron County made the same decision last week.
