BOSTON (AP) Police say a charter bus full of high school students that crashed in Boston was on a road that had a height restriction. The bus hit an overpass, injuring more than 30 people, four seriously, and leaving some trapped for more than an hour. Police say the driver may be cited.
MIDLAND CITY, Ala. (AP) The funeral is Sunday for the school bus driver shot to death, allegedly by the same man suspected of holding a 5-year-old boy hostage in a bunker. Hundreds of people attended a viewing service for the driver Saturday. Negotiations with the suspect, Jimmy Lee Dykes, are in their sixth day.
ATLANTA (AP) A published report says an Atlanta school where a 14-year-old student was shot and wounded only had limited use of its two metal detectors this school year and that they were broken on the day of the shooting. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that public school administrators acknowledged the broken equipment.
GLEN ROSE, Texas (AP) Published reports say the author of the best-seller "American Sniper," former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, is one of two men shot dead at a Texas gun range. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram and Stephenville Empire-Tribune report that Erath County Sheriff Tommy Bryant says Kyle and a second man were found dead Saturday afternoon. The Star-Telegram reports that witnesses say a gunman opened fire on the men, then fled in a pickup truck.
NEW YORK (AP) The gun control debate will be part of this year's Super Bowl. A 30-second spot by Mayors Against Illegal Guns will air in the Washington area during the game between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. The group was founded by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
