LAREDO - Mexican authorities are investigating a shooting involving a Border Patrol agent, Customs and Border Protection officials said.
Mexican government officials claim the agent fired across the river killing a person on their side of the border.
Border Patrol Spokesman Bill Brooks said that a group of people began throwing rocks at agents who were aboard a boat near Laredo.
Brooks said an agent opened fire toward Nuevo Laredo. He said it wasn't clear if the bullets struck anyone.
The FBI also is investigating the incident.
