WESLACO - More than 7,000 packages of synthetic marijuana were seized today during raids at Rio Grande Valley smoke shops.
The Drug Enforcement Administration launched the raids just before noon and targeted numerous shops, including 13 in Brownsville.
The products marketed under the names Kush, Mad Hatter, Mary Jane and Scooby Snacks contain chemicals that make their sale illegal, officials said. Scooby Snacks were tested positive for synthetic canabinoid.
The DEA is the leading investigative agency in the case and its agents plan to release more details on the raids on Thursday.
