HIDALGO COUNTY - A man has been charged for fabricating a kidnapping report.

Hidalgo County investigators said Ross de la Rosa told them four men approached him at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday near Mile 4 Line and Inspiration roads in Mission.

De la Rosa told deputies the men forced him into his mother's van, beat him up, and threw out of the moving vehicle later.

Investigators later discovered that Border Patrol agents seized De la Rosa's van about half an hour before the alleged kidnapping.

Agents found 400 pounds of marijuana in the van.

A judge charged De la Rosa with making a false report. His bond was set at $5,000.

Homeland Security Investigations is looking into the marijuana case.
