DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) Hillary Rodham Clinton has dominated talk about the next presidential campaign, but Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley is becoming an active voice in early voting states like Iowa and New Hampshire.
O'Malley has stepped up his campaigning for fellow Democrats. Iowa Democratic activists say O'Malley is doing more than other national Democrats to help local and state candidates on the ballot there.
The Maryland governor is holding fundraisers for Iowa legislative candidates this weekend along with events for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jack Hatch. Hatch is challenging Republican Gov. Terry Branstad.
O'Malley is laying the groundwork for a presidential campaign whether or not Clinton runs, though it remains unclear if he will actually challenge the popular former first lady.
