WESLACO - The Texas Department of Public Safety has ended a three-week project involving regulatory checkpoints in the Rio Grande Valley.
DPS troopers set up random checkpoints to verify drivers had licenses and liability insurance, officials said.
DPS officials said the checkpoints were set up to deter criminal activity and unsafe driving behaviors in the region.
The agency will release more information about the operation's impact later this week.
