SOUTH PADRE ISLAND - Authorities released the name of a student who drowned in the waters off South Padre Island over the weekend.
Police said the victim was 18-year-old Jesus Eduardo Moreno. He was a student at PSJA High School.
A crisis-counseling team was at the high school on Monday, helping students and staff deal with the teen's death.
South Padre Island Police Chief Randy Smith said the teenager drowned Sunday afternoon near the "good hope" beach access.
Two other swimmers were taken to a hospital for observation. Police said the two ingested a large amount of salt water trying to swim back to shore.
