UPDATE (8:30 p.m.): The interim superintendent says there was at least 18 computers sold at the auction, the hard drives along with it.

At a meeting Wednesday, it was revealed one of the bidders spotted the hard drives and let an auction administrator know.

According to the release, the administrator informed her supervisor about the issue; the supervisor's directive was to get the buyer's information.

No directive was given to stop the auction.

The investigation is still ongoing.

EDCOUCH - A chance for parents to finally get information after the Edcouch Elsa school district auctioned off computers without wiping them of students private information.

Initially we got a statement from the district saying they were changing protocols to make sure nothing like this happens again.

Just over a week ago, new superintendent Richard Rivera launched his own investigation, and will be updating parents on the status.

School computers sold to the highest bidder at an auction in April, along with thousands of students private information.

Four months later parents are still looking for answers; worried strangers possibly know where they live or could steal their child’s identity.

One worried parent, Debora Villanueva, wanted to see the information we had on her kids for herself.

Villanueva has five kids attending schools in the district, with a baby girl who will eventually be there too.

"This is really bad; they're supposed to tell us when something like this happens," she says.
