Edinburg Fire Department: Illegal Burning May Have Caused Grass Fire

Edinburg- Out of control grassfire may have been set by illegal trash burning.

Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a grass fire north of Monte Cristo Road in Edinburg.

Investigators tell CHANNEL 5 NEWS the fire started around 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of Mile 11 and Eubanks Road.
Investigators say more than 15 acres were burned.

Edinburg Fire Investigators say someone set a pile of trash on fire in the area.

The Hidalgo County Fire Marshal's office is now investigating.
