EDINBURG - Hidalgo County commissioners on Tuesday approved hiring a forensic investigative firm to inspect dozens of voting machines.
The commissioners approved the use of $110,000 of seized funds to hire a forensic expert as recommended by a grand jury. The expert will work along the grand jury.
They will inspect more than 300 voting machines used during the Democratic Party primary. Allegations of tampering surfaced after the election.
The Hidalgo County District Attorney's Office seized the machines after the allegations surfaced.
