McALLEN - A couple said they paid more than $3,000 to repair their swimming pool only to be left high and dry.
Felipe Barajas said his family has not used the pool much this summer.
"When we put water, it bubbled up," Barajas said. "It's coming right off."
Barajas said hailstorms damaged his pool. They found a contractor through Craigslist to repair the damage.
He said the contractor seemed legitimate. But the repair cost quickly increased from $1,800 to more than $3,300. Barajas said the man kept asking for money to buy materials.
When the job was finished, the pool was unusable, Barajas said. He said his grandchildren would get cut and scrapped on the finish.
"On the edges here you can feel how rough it is," Barajas said.
He said the contractor, MTY Framing, promised to return and finish the job, but that never happened.
CHANNEL 5 NEWS called MTY Framing owner Aaron Saenz but was unable to get a comment.
"I'm ticked. I am mad. I'm hopping mad. I think if I saw him ... whew! There's no telling what I would do," Barajas said.
Barajas said he will have to hire another contractor and spend thousands more to finish the job.
