WESLACO - Police have few clues in the disappearance of a Carrollton man.
Noel Shankle, 28, went missing 10 months ago after he crossed into Mexico, police said. Shankle flew to the Rio Grande Valley from North Texas. He rented a car in Harlingen.
His family said the last time they heard from him was on Feb. 3. On Monday, his mother said she was discouraged about a federal investigation into her son's disappearance.
Shankle's rental car was captured on surveillance video as it crossed into Mexico at a Brownsville international bridge.
Shankle's mother said he was going to get some dental work done in Mexico.
Shankle's mother traveled to Mexico to search for her son. She filed a missing-person report with the Mexican government. She also reported the disappearance to U.S. authorities.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation now leads the probe into Shankle's disappearance. Detectives said there is no evidence his disappearance may be likened to any crime.
Police said Shankle was driving a silver-colored Nissan Altima with license plates CS2-Z672.
Anyone with information on the vehicle or Shankle's location is asked to call the Harlingen Police Crime Stoppers at 956-425-8477
