LA FERIA – The Cameron County gentleman’s club fire last week is raising insurance policy questions.

The Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio says the club owner could be taking a polygraph test against the claims.

Lucio says they are working with the Fire Marshal’s office to figure out exactly what happened between the times the owner says he went back to his club.

"According to him, he forgot his phone. He went back to retrieve the phone," he says.

The club owner says that’s when he was confronted by two or three people who forced him to open his safe.

"Supposedly, he also had a weapon there. He retrieved the weapon. They struggled with it. He supposedly was injured because they discharged the firearm," says Lucio.

Lucio says the owner doesn’t have any injuries or gunshot wounds; he claims the bullet hit a coin in his pocket.

The owner says the alleged intruders tied him up and set fire to the building, but he was able to loosen himself before the fire consumed him.

The sheriff says a polygraph test can help confirm what actually happened on that night.
