CAMERON COUNTY- Investigators are looking into possible arson at a controlled burn site.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service were planning to burn 400 acres of refuge and 150 acres of private lands next weekend.
Yesterday, officials were told an illegal burn was set at the Tio Cano Lake area in Cameron County.
About 80 acres were burned including 70 acres of refuge and 10 acres of private land
Cameron County Fire Marshal's Office believe the fire was intentionally set.
Some structures in the area were threatened by the fire but firefighters in the area responded quickly and prevented any damage.
CHANNEL FIVE NEWS was told the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service plans on burning the remaining 320 acres next weekend if weather conditions permit.
