REYNOSA - Blockades and shootouts were reported throughout Reynosa and other border communities on Tuesday.

Residents said the firefights involved Mexican military and cartel members. They said cartel members blocked Colonia Benito Juarez, near the highway to San Fernando, for several hours.

Blockades also were reported near the Televisa television station on Colonia La Prensa.

Shootings also were reported near the Nuevo Progreso international crossing.

Mexican officials confirmed six people died in firefights on Monday in Ciudad Victoria.
