Firm to hire 1,000 workers at its Phoenix facility

PHOENIX (AP) A financial services firm is planning to hire 1,000 workers at its north Phoenix facility.

USAA caters to military families and operates a large campus in north Phoenix.

KPHO-TV says (http://bit.ly/W49Csm ) the company announced plans Tuesday to expand its facility near Interstate 17 just north of Phoenix Deer Valley Airport.

USAA's existing north Phoenix facility employs about 3,200 workers in its 650,000-square-feet of space.

Company officials say the building will expand by 380,000-square-feet and will include a parking lot and a new building.

They say the new jobs created include statistics analysts, business and financial analysts, underwriters, information security specialists and those that focus on banking, investment, insurance and claims.

USAA based in San Antonio, Texas says it expects all new positions to be filled by 2014.
