PHARR - Saturday night's lone football contest saw PSJA Southwest outlast Edinburg Vela 20-17 at PSJA Stadium. The Javelinas have started their first varsity season with a 2-0 record while the SaberCats have opened theirs 0-2. On Thursday, Vela begins district play on the road against La Joya. Southwest travels to Grulla Friday in non-district action.
