SAN DIEGO, CALIF. - A federal judge in San Diego, Calif., has sentenced former Mexican drug kingpin Benjamin Arellano Felix to 25 years in prison.
Arellano Felix once led the Tijuana-based cartel that carried the family name. At one time, it was one of the world's most powerful drug-trafficking organizations.
Following his extradition, Arellano Felix pleaded guilty last year to racketeering and other charges. In addition to the prison term, he was also ordered to forfeit $100 million.
