McALLEN - Eleven of the 12 men sentenced this week in the Panama Unit corruption case are in U.S. Marshals' custody. All were free on bond before the Tuesday and Wednesday sentencing hearings.
The men were taken into custody after their sentences were handed down. They are now on their way to federal prisons, but it could be weeks before they get to their final destination.
The U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons will decide where the men will go. The bureau will take into account the prisoners' medical needs and treatment programs.
The twelfth convict, J.P. Flores, will report the prison the bureau designates for him.
