An important program is getting kids ready for college. Gear Up has been quite is making a difference here in the Valley.

Beatrice Ramirez is a proud Gear Up grad from Rio Grande City. She now attends UTPA in Edinburg and says Gear Up got her college ready.

But it didn't take Beatrice long to get into the swing of things. She says Gear Up taught her how to get organized.

Beatrice says thanks to Gear Up...she also had a chance to see what a real university looked like while still in high school.

Beatrice says she has her future all planned out. But one thing Beatrice does know is that she loves the Gear Up program and plans to give back to her community.
