Some superintendents across the Valley are excited for their students. Region One has just been awarded a seven year gear up grant

Raymondville superintendent Johnny Pineda is thrilled at what the future holds for his district. He's looking forward to gearing up his students for college.

Superintendent Pineda says the 7th graders in his school district now have that opportunity to reach their goals.

162 students who attend Mayra Green Middle School will be GEAR UP students until they graduate from high school.

Pineda says parents and the rest of the community will benefit from this 7 year old program.
