RIO GRANDE CITY – Government surveyors are working on border wall assessments in Rio Grande City.

The Rio Grande City Consolidated School District board members approved U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s ability to conduct survey and site assessments.

A survey marker has been laid flat near Rio Grande City High School.

KRGV’s Angelo Vargas spoke with Rio Grande City CISD legal counsel, Ruben Pena, about the school’s decision.

He says refusing the federal government’s site assessment would result in legal action.

“Rather fighting the government at this stage we will wait to see what their assessment will be," says Pena.

He says the school board is opposed to a border wall at this time.
