HARLINGEN - A Harlingen business woman is looking for answers after thieves made off with her life savings.

Police said a woman and a man broke into the City Café and Rialto Reception Hall main office on Thursday and took jewelry, a gun and hundreds of thousands of dollars.

"I can't live with this," Laura Lozano said.

"I saw the door open and said, ‘No, no it can't be.' I went in ... and looked for my box. It wasn't there," Lozano said.

Lozano said she kept the money she had saved over 20 years tucked away in the attic.

"This is where I had my money," she said while showing a box. Lozano said she lost more then $200,000 and the jewelry.

A nearby business' surveillance camera captured images of a man pushing the safe to a truck. The woman stood nearby.

Lozano said she hopes someone will recognize the suspects.

"My life is here ... this is my house," Lozano said of her business.

The thieves also took a .38-caliber handgun. Lozano fears the couple could use it to commit more crimes.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call Harlingen Crime Stoppers at 956-425-5402. A reward is offered.
