HARLINGEN – Harlingen Medical Center is collecting items for children and pets spending the holidays away from home.

The hospital is requesting items, such as unwrapped toys, new clothing and gift cards to be donated for the children. In addition, condiments mayonnaise, mustard and relish are needed to help supply holiday meals.

Donations for the youngsters will be delivered to Sunny Glen Children’s Home in San Benito. They provide shelter to neglected and abused children.

There are currently 26 children as young as 10 months old to 18 years of age in need.

For the fur children, items such as unwrapped pet toys, pet food for dogs and cats and cleaning supplies are greatly appreciated.

Pet items will be distributed to the Harlingen Humane Society.

All donations can be dropped off in the human resources department at Harlingen Medical Center. The hospital will have Santa's sleigh on display where items can be placed.

You can find a full list of items for both children and pets below.
