HARLINGEN - Randy Bermea is headed west to run track--as he signed with Cal-Berkeley on Wednesday morning. Bermea chose Cal over Texas Tech and Ole Miss. Bermea told CHANNEL 5 SPORTS he waited to sign to get come clarification on other offers he was considering, but ended choosing Cal because it was the best fit for him athletically and academically. He also told CHANNEL 5 SPORTS that while Cal is a long way from home, he's excited to go somewhere different like California for college, and that you only live once--and that he hopes to represent the state of Texas and the Valley well. Bermea is one of the state's best hurdlers, and also was an intregal part of the Cardinals 2011 football team that made it to the Region IV finals last fall.
