EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) The sentence is more than 11 years in federal prison for a man who twice robbed a southwestern Illinois convenience store, using a rifle. Twenty-one-year-old London Brown was sentenced in East St. Louis. That's where he pleaded guilty to two counts of armed robbery and one count of possessing a firearm to further a violent crime.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) An Illinois group studying health care shortages is recommending formalized training for community health workers and funding student loan repayment for health professionals in underserved areas. Those are among the nearly two-dozen recommendations in a new report.

NORRIS CITY, Ill. (AP) The American Humanist Association is threatening a lawsuit if school prayers aren't halted at graduation ceremonies at Norris City-Omaha-Enfield High School. The high school's principal says the student-led prayer long has been part of the ceremony, and that he's never fielded any local complaint.

CHICAGO (AP) Illinois Transportation Secretary Ann Schneider says a fatal accident in Indiana is a reminder to be mindful of dangerous road conditions. The department's warning followed a massive, snowy crash Thursday on the eastbound stretch of Interstate 94 connecting Chicago with Detroit. Three died and more than 20 people were injured.
