ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) Maryland's annual legislative session is starting. The Maryland General Assembly convenes at noon today in Annapolis for the first day of the session, which is scheduled to end April 8.

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) The new mayor of Wilmington says fighting crime and cutting city costs are among his administration's highest priorities. Dennis Williams was sworn in as mayor yesterday and laid out his goals for the city in an inaugural address before the City Council.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) Wind energy and hydraulic fracturing are among the environmental issues facing Maryland lawmakers during this year's General Assembly session. Maryland Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller says he wants a bill supporting offshore wind to reach the Senate floor and will make committee changes to make it happen during this year's session.

FORT MEADE, Md. (AP) The defense says military prosecutors are drawing comparisons between an Army private's alleged leak of classified documents to Civil War-era cases involving coded messages in newspapers. The argument emerged yesterday during a pretrial hearing at Fort Meade for Pfc. Bradley Manning. The hearing continues today.
