CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (AP) A western New York woman has admitted falsely claiming she had breast cancer and accepting thousands of dollars raised on her behalf. Media outlets report that Melissa Jones of Canandaigua (kan-un-DAY'-gwuh) pleaded guilty yesterday. Police say much of the money was recovered.

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (AP) The former head of the Canandaigua Civic Center has admitted embezzling more than $71,000. WHEC-TV in Rochester reports Michael Cronin pleaded guilty yesterday and is scheduled to be sentenced next month.

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) Two former employees have admitted stealing a combined $300,000 from a Tioga County bank. Federal authorities say Megan Horton and Gwenn Gooding pleaded guilty yesterday. Horton was the branch manager and Gooding was the head teller at the Chemung Canal Trust branch in Owego.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Time is running out for nine school districts in New York state that haven't adopted a new teacher evaluation plan. Districts that miss the January 17th deadline will lose some state funding. The state has signed off on more than 530 plans.
