CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) Missouri Republican Ed Martin expects to get some help from Texas Governor Rick Perry in his bid for state attorney general. Martin's campaign says today that Perry plans to attend a campaign rally June 29th in the southeastern Missouri city of Cape Girardeau (juh-RAHR'-doh).
McGREGOR, Texas (AP) South Texas is the leading candidate for a launch site for the company that sent the world's first commercial supply ship to the International Space Station. SpaceX Chief Executive Elon Musk said he wants to build a spaceport near Brownsville. He says today that he plans to talk to Governor Rick Perry about incentives and other issues.
LA PORTE, Texas (AP) Workers are pumping out dozens of gallons of oil-laced water after the 100-year-old Battleship Texas flooded over the weekend. Staff arrived Saturday and immediately noticed something was wrong. The vessel on the Buffalo Bayou was sitting awkwardly in its slip. She was lower in the water and listing to the left. The situation was so dire by Sunday that the ship's caretaker, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, had to find more pumps to help remove the water.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency is bringing doping charges against seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong, questioning his victories in those storied cycling races. Armstrong, who retired from cycling last year, could face a lifetime ban from the sport if found guilty. The story was first reported today by the Washington Post.
