DALLAS (AP) The Dallas Black Dance Theatre is trying to raise money in order to perform at a festival that serves as the official artistic arm of the Olympics. The troupe was invited earlier this year to perform at the Cultural Olympiad in Scotland in August. The estimated cost to send 11 dancers and four administrators to the event is $200,000.

SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) The director of an Austin-area day care center has been convicted in the death of a 10-week-old child left in her care. Christina Suzanne Lyons was found guilty of capital murder yesterday in the death of Benjamin Spencer. Lyons had hinted that her four-year-old daughter caused the child's death while she was out of the room.

ARANSAS PASS, Texas (AP) The attorney for a man accused of killing a 16-year-old Aransas Pass girl says his client is innocent. Authorities arrested 18-year-old Lawrence Mireles over the weekend in the death of Jenna Hernandez. Mireles' attorney says the two dated from 2007 to 2009 before ending their relationship on good terms.
