AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Texas lawmakers will consider the future of the health care system for prison inmates. Members of the Finance Committee have invited experts to testify today about the best way to manage prisoner health care. Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst has asked senators to see if there are any new ways to save money.

BOTTINEAU, N.D. (AP) Two children have died and another child and a Texas man have been injured after authorities say a pickup truck crashed into a tent at a North Dakota campground. The accident happened early yesterday when the driver lost control of the truck while negotiating a curve. A five-year-old boy and a nine-year-old boy were killed, while 28-year-old Juan Ruiz of El Paso was flown to a hospital.

HOUSTON (AP) NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Jealous is the featured speaker today at the organization's annual conventions in Houston. Much of this year's convention is devoted to the importance of voting. Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and Vice President Joe Biden are also scheduled to speak at the event this week.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) State lawmakers will get an update on the future of transportation funding in Texas. Members of the House Appropriations and Transportation Committee are holding hearing this week to preview the problems they'll face when the Legislature meets again next year. Today's testimony will update legislators on the transportation budget.
